BCS Elections 2020
Update to Ordinary Members
The Society sought nominations for 11 elected positions on the British Cardiovascular Society Executive, Council and Committees:
- BCS President
- Vice President, Corporate Finance and Development
- 1 DGH / Non-surgical centre rep
- 1 Women in Cardiology rep
- 1 Without Portfolio rep
- Clinical Standards
- Digital, Communications and Marketing
- Guidelines and Practice
- Programme Committee
The deadline for submission was Wednesday 18 March 2020.
Both executive roles and the post for Council – representative without portfolio received only one nominee each:
- BCS President Elect – Professor John Greenwood
- VP Corporate Finance and Development – Dr Cara Hendry
- Council – representative without Portfolio – Dr Daniel Sado
We are pleased to announce that these candidates are therefore elected unopposed and will take up their posts following ratification at the AGM, still scheduled to take place [virtually] on Wednesday 3 June.
In light of the current coronavirus pandemic, the BCS Board and its Election Panel have decided to defer the voting process until the summer for all remaining posts which require a ballot. Those standing have been notified of this, and outgoing elected members have been asked to stay on a little longer until the ballots have run and newly elected members have been appointed.
Publicity of the ballots will be sent to ordinary members of the Society when we resume this activity.
We would like to thank those standing for these elections and also their nominees.
We are delighted to confirm John, Carla and Daniel in their new posts from June 2020 as part of the BCS team and during the term when we will be celebrating an important milestone; our centennial year in 2022.
