Virtual Interactive Cardiology Conference 2021

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow's programme, postponed from March 2020, has been updated to reflect the key contemporary challenging cardiovascular issues and will be delivered over four engaging evening webinars. Each starting at 6.00pm and lasting for an hour and forty-five minutes. For ease and convenience, the programme can be accessed live or on-demand for up to three weeks after the event, and will offer eight external CPD credits.

The virtual programme provides a unique learning experience delivered in an open, supportive, enjoyable and friendly atmosphere. Expert chairs and cardiology opinion leaders from across the UK and Europe will present a comprehensive and clinically relevant review of the latest evidence, which is shaping the rapidly changing landscape of cardiovascular medicine and the sub specialties. Ample opportunity will be given to pose questions to speakers and to share opinions with fellow attendees. The case-based learning format will continue this year, underpinning the programme’s practical approach to clinically relevant topics.

Topics and learning objectives

• Review of the most up to date guidelines and provide practical strategies for atrial fibrillation, interventional management and stroke prevention
• Understand the concept of precision medicine and its impact on managing patients with chronic angina, acute coronary syndromes and myocardial infarction
• Examine the updated evidence-based approach to heart failure medical management and criteria of appropriate patient selection for complex device therapy
• Appreciate the challenges faced when treating patients with advanced cardiac failure and review available bridging strategies prior to cardiac transplantation
• Obtain a comprehensive account of the importance and impact of renal disease when managing patients with cardiovascular conditions
